A comunidade do site Metal Archives divulgou sua tradicional votação de melhores discos do ano, reunindo números expressivos em 2025. Foram 242 votos contabilizados e impressionantes 861 álbuns diferentes citados, resultando em uma lista extensa com 387 trabalhos ranqueados.

No topo, o destaque ficou com a banda italiana Messa e o álbum The Spin, que liderou com folga. Como aponta o próprio levantamento, o disco teve uma "vantagem dominante" sobre os concorrentes, consolidando-se como o favorito da comunidade.

Logo atrás aparecem nomes fortes do metal extremo europeu, como os finlandeses do Havukruunu com Tavastland, e o retorno aguardado do Coroner com Dissonance Theory. Sobre este último, o destaque é ainda maior: trata-se do primeiro álbum da banda em 32 anos, o que ajuda a explicar a repercussão.
