Loudwire: A melhor música de metal por ano desde 1970

Encontramos a postagem somente agora, mas, em 13/01, a "Loudwire Staff" criou "Best Metal Song Of Each Year Since 1970", a rigor um texto coletivamente assinado por Joe DiVita, Graham Hartmann, Katy Irizarry, Brian Ives, Eduardo Rivadavia e Jon Wiederhorn, em ordem alfabética de sobrenome. E, ao contrário do que o título sugere, houve o zelo em apontar uma "runner-up" no original, livremente traduzida por nós como "vice".

O "campeão" foi o Black Sabbath, com, por assim dizer, quatro "medalhas de ouro e cinco de prata" – fora o 1-2 de Ozzy Osbourne, padrão adotado daqui por diante. Quase empatando, o Iron Maiden vem a seguir com 3-5 e outro destaque é o Judas Priest, não apenas pelo 3-3, e sim pelo fato de a primeira aparição ter sido com "Victim Of Changes", de Sad Wings Of Destiny (76), e a última por "Lightning Strike", de Firepower (18), ou seja, uma janela de quarenta e dois anos! E com dois segundos lugares, o Sepultura nos representa em 93 e 96.

Demais artistas com ao menos duas "premiações"? Ghost, 4-0; Metallica, 3-1; Tool, 3-0; Pantera, 2-1; Death, Rammstein e Meshuggah, 2-0; Slipknot e Mastodon, 1-2; Deep Purple, Rainbow, Scorpions, Exodus, Slayer, Megadeth, Opeth e Gojira, 1-1; e Anthrax e System Of A Down, 0-2. Já "Holy Diver" colocou Dio no topo em 83 e o frontman ainda obteve um primeiro lugar e um vice, com os citados Rainbow e Black Sabbath.

Em três oportunidades fez-se barba e cabelo: em 71 e 73, ambas com o Black Sabbath, e em 82 para o Iron Maiden. Indiretamente o fenômeno se repetiu em 70 e 78, com o mesmo conjunto, porém em gravações distintas: novamente Tony Iommi e companhia e Judas Priest.

De resto, há: dois registros extraídos de EPs, Broken (92), do Nine Inch Nails e Popestar (16), do Ghost; e três singles, de Poppy, Spiritbox e Architects, justamente do biênio 2019-20 e numa espécie de "licença poética" para furar este ranking, pois dois deles figuram em full lengths e o terceiro estará em breve – com tudo devidamente explicado abaixo.
